sunshinetour ikona

Good start to the year for the team. Ikona won the 1.40m, Asti the 1.30 and Loughnatousa Eric was 7th in the 1.40m.

It was a double of wins for Paul in Kronenberg two star show last weekend (20th October). He recorded his first with with the Irish Sport Horse Cruising Star in the 1.35m Accumulator when he recorded the top score of 65 marks in a time of 46.14 seconds. Later in the day he rode to victory in the 1.20m with the KWPN nine-year-old Danqu. Just 17 combinations qualified for the jump-off. Beecher was fastest of nine double clears in a time of 33.49 to take the win.

Only a short time after his move to Ghent in Belgium, Paul has already started to record some results. Competing in Moorsele Paul finished second in the Grand Prix CSI 1* with Asti 71. The combination also took fourth place in the CSI1 * 1.20, clear in 56.86. He also finished in fifth place with EIS Ikona in the 1.40m speed when clear in 60.75. Winner of the class was Joe Whitaker and Lavarno who lodged a clear in 55.92. Beecher made the move to Belgium less than a month ago, taking with him seven of his top horses. He plans on returning to Ireland before Christmas.

It was a good show for Paul in Kronenberg as he piloted EIS Ikona into fourth in the CSI2* Table A 1.40m (Medium). In the 1.30m two phase, Paul and ASTi 71 finished in tenth place when clear in 26.69. On Sunday, Paul finished in eighth place in the 1.20m jump-off class. Riding Danqu he proved that the time could be beaten when crossing the line almost a second faster than the winner Timothy Hendrix and Camela Z in a time of 32.26, but eight faults ruled the Waterford rider out of contention. Competing in his last event of the day, Paul upped the ante when slotting into fourth place with ASTI 71 in the 1.30m class. The pairing crossed the line with nothing to add in 35.05.

Dellighted with how Asti jumped today to finish third in the Munster Grand Prix at Maryville.
